Michelle Brumley has been providing counseling services for over 15 years in the Houston area. Her experience includes a variety of settings including private practice, family medicine clinic, partial hospital programs, community mental health, and substance abuse treatment centers providing individual and group counseling to adults. Michelle earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Master of Education in Counselor Education from the University of Texas at Austin. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas and is a member of the Texas Counseling Association.
Her Approach
Michelle employs a holistic, collaborative approach to therapy. She believes the relationship in counseling is integral to improving a patient's overall well being and each treatment plan is tailored to the individual client. Different strategies work for different people and she will work with you to find the most suitable approach utilizing techniques from Cognitive Behavioral, Psychodynamic, Mindfulness, and Harm Reduction based approaches.
Michelle will also collaborate with you to find a strategy that works best for treating your substance use issues. Whether that means working to achieve sobriety or learning to manage substance use and learning to utilize more appropriate, positive coping strategies to deal with life's stressors.
